This is the spirit that animated the event "Recognising the Invisible, Valuing the Individual", part of the journey "Making the Invisible Visible," with which UniCredit reaffirms its commitment to being an accessible, inclusive bank that can value the talents of each individual.

«Valuing talent beyond diversity starts from making the invisible visible.»

The event, which took place last 15th September in Milan, was a valuable opportunity to listen to the voices of UniCredit employees who experience disability daily, in a dialogue with external guests, discussing different perspectives and sharing the achievements within our Bank and in the communities we serve.

As Remo Taricani, Deputy Head of Italy UniCredit, reminded us: "Our concrete and ongoing commitment is towards a bank that is accessible to all and values diversity and the talent of everyone."

Talent beyond Diversity

The presentations by UniCredit individuals and guests emphasized that the real challenge is learning to see beyond labels. Ilaria Maria Dalla Riva, Head of People & Culture Italy and COO Italy UniCredit, clearly expressed this concept: "Valuing talent beyond diversity starts from making the invisible visible."

This invitation was also embraced by the Terconauti, who reminded us that "The opportunity to fail should not be denied based on prejudice. We must focus on potential, not limitations. It applies to autism and to each one of us."

Apart from dedicated actions, UniCredit also shows commitment through everyday attention to diversity. Carlotta Maniezzo, Disability Manager at UniCredit, reminded us that "those who ask for help deserve to find listening ears, heads, and hearts."

Inclusion as a concrete lever empowering communities to progress

In Italy, out of 600,000 autistic individuals, only 1.6% are employed. This is why the hiring of over a hundred people with disabilities in UniCredit represents a fundamental step. As Nico Acampora, founder of PizzAut, emphasized: "Work, dignity, and future: 104 hires of people with disabilities in UniCredit make a difference."

Inclusion was also illustrated through sport, with the evocative image by the President of the Italian Sailing Federation, Francesco Ettorre: "When you're out on the water, it doesn't matter who you are or where you're from: it only matters to be there, driven by the wind. Inclusivity in sport, and in sailing in particular, is a high form of freedom."

Similarly, UniCredit's commitment extends beyond its internal environment, as highlighted by Annalisa Areni, Head of Client Strategies, UniCredit Italy: "Giving value back to the communities we operate in is a duty for a company like UniCredit. It's our clear commitment to create social impact and make it a cornerstone of our culture."

A cultural change

Since 2022, the project "Making the Invisible Visible" has become a transformation lever. Chiara Bacilieri, Marketing, Communications and Innovation Director of Mindwork, explained that "it's a lever for cultural change that is urgently needed: it makes visible the barriers that hinder equal opportunities."

A journey that finds strength in sharing. Cristina Barletti, Head of People Analytics, Orga, Reward & Client Strategy P&C SP, UniCredit Italy, defined it thus: "We have chosen inclusivity as a value to convey to our people and have brought it into the company."

And the perfect synthesis comes from Claudia Chiaraluce, Head of Welfare & People Care, UniCredit Italy: "An event full of emotions, with internal and external testimonies, all united towards a common goal: the valuing of invisible talents."
