Each year, International Women’s Day calls on us to imagine and actively create a world where equity is not an aspiration, but a lived reality.

2:00 min

Today, we are witnessing renewed pressure on the rights and freedoms of women and girls across many parts of the world, including Europe. Recent developments remind us that conversations about equity are not optional. They are essential. And they require clarity, commitment and courage from all of us.

The UN’s powerful 2026 theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls”, reinforces that meaningful progress demands intention, consistency, accountability and participation.

At UniCredit, this commitment is not a one-day message. It is part of our Culture. It shapes how we work, how we lead and how we create opportunities for the future.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

UniCredit has officially renewed its EDGE Certification® for gender equity and inclusion across ten European countries. This achievement makes us the first and only pan‑European bank to hold Global EDGE Certification®.

This recognition is not symbolic. It reflects a long term, measurable and sustained commitment.

How did we earn it?

58% of our global workforce is represented by women

-  Nearly half of our top management positions are held by women, with 46% of the Group Executive Committee and 53% of the Board of Directors

-  A strong pipeline of female talent progressing from junior to senior roles

High employee confidence in fair hiring processes and strong advocacy for UniCredit as an employer

-  Our “Towards the Zero Gender Gap” commitment continues to deliver tangible results, with agender pay gap now close to an immaterial 1% in comparable roles

These are not just statistics; they represent people, careers, ambitions and trust. They reflect a Culture built on accountability and on the belief that inclusion strengthens performance.

But numbers alone are not enough. These numbers matter because they reflect real work, real commitment and real impact.

Progress Needs Participation: Here’s How You Can Take Part

International Women’s Day is not a single moment; it’s a movement fuelled by all of us.

» Amplify the message

Use #InternationalWomensDay, #UniCredit #UnlimitHER and #ForAllWomenAndGirls  across Viva Engage and your social channels to show your support and spark meaningful dialogue.

» Give back

Engage with local organisations that uplift women and girls in your community.

For all women and girls, everywhere, we are just getting started.

International Women’s Day marks a meaningful moment, yet true progress comes from what we do consistently, not just today.

In the months ahead, we will continue to activate new initiatives to UnlimitHER, elevating female success stories while reinforcing allyship and inclusion as a shared responsibility across all colleagues, as part of our ∞ Women’s Empowerment concept.

Because at UniCredit, International Women’s Day does not last one day.

It is Unlimited.
