Carta Etica Fund Turns 20 | Together, Creating Real Impact
Friday 14 November 2025
On 13 November, at our Milan headquarters, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Carta Etica Fund – the initiative that has transformed an everyday gesture – using a credit card – into a driver of solidarity and change. Over 1,600 projects supported, thousands of lives touched, one shared mission: making a difference. Find out more!
At UniCredit, we believe success is measured not only in numbers but in the positive impact we generate every day. The Carta Etica project proves that, together, we can build a fairer, more inclusive and sustainable future for all.
The event brought together colleagues, representatives from the Third Sector and institutions to share a journey of inclusion and social innovation. A journey that also speaks about us – our way of being a bank: close to people, attentive to real needs, and committed to creating shared value.
A unique model, a growing network
The mechanism is simple yet powerful: for every purchase made with our “ethical” cards, the Bank allocates 0.2% to the Carta Etica Fund, at no cost to the customer. From this, projects are born that change lives: from training for vulnerable young people to care for people with Alzheimer’s, from urban regeneration to job inclusion.
As Remo Taricani, Deputy Head Italy at UniCredit, highlighted:
"Carta Etica is the tangible expression of our commitment to people and communities. It's a project that embraces and values diverse experiences, giving voice to small local organisations and nationwide initiatives. Its true strength lies in shared participation: a bridge connecting the bank, citizens and the Third Sector in a path of genuine, collective solidarity. Celebrating these twenty years means recognising an important milestone, but above all renewing our belief that economic and social progress must go hand in hand."
Numbers that make an impact
In 2024, thanks to the work of the bank’s regional structures, 80 Third Sector organizations received €1.6 million for local projects. And with the initiative “1 vote, 200,000 concrete aids” – which in 2025 will see its prize pool increase even further – collective participation becomes even stronger.
Some of the stories shared during the event:
- Pepe!, Caritas Italiana’s project to promote community engagement against educational poverty.
- Cotti in Fragranza and Fattoria Didattica Sant’Onofrio, offering reintegration paths in Palermo and Casal di Principe.
- Il Paese Ritrovato by La Meridiana, Italy’s first Alzheimer’s village.
- Audio Visual Napoli Hub by Upside Production, training young talents from disadvantaged areas.
- Cavarei in Forlì, fostering inclusion for people with disabilities.
- Semi di Bene by CSV Net, encouraging project design and fundraising through ilMioDono.it.
Carta Etica is an integral part of our broader commitment as a Bank to sustainable development and to supporting the communities where we operate.
Since 2022, across the Group, we have provided €13.2 billion in social financing and, in 2024 alone, allocated €78.1 million to community support. In the same year, UniCredit Foundation donated €30 million to projects dedicated to young people and education.
