UniCredit obtains ECB authorization on Danish Compromise

Milan, 8 September 2026 - UniCredit has been informed that the European Central Bank (ECB) has granted approval for the application of the Danish Compromise methodology in the calculation of the Group's consolidated capital ratios. Starting from 3Q26 reporting, insurance holdings may be treated through risk weighting rather than being deducted from regulatory capital.

The authorization strengthens UniCredit's capital position by an estimated benefit of approximately +52bps to the CET1 ratio, based on its position as of 2Q26, delivers on the Group's commitment to obtain approval by the end of September, and further increases the disciplined capital allocation of the Group.
