UniCredit announces that HVB has finalized today the transfer of its 70.26% stake in International Moscow Bank (IMB) to Bank Austria Creditanstalt (BA-CA) in cash for a price totaling € 1,015 million. Additionally, BA-CA has completed the acquisition from VTB Bank (France) SA of the shares issued pursuant to the capital increase of IMB occurred in December 2006 and subscribed by VTB.
Given its recent acquisition of the 19.77% interest in IMB from VTB Bank (France) SA, BA-CA now holds 90.03% of IMB's total share capital, which corresponds to 95.19% of IMB's voting capital.
This transaction is a further step in the reorganisation of UniCredit Group with the aim of centralizing all Central and Eastern Europe commercial banking business under BA-CA.
With a current market capitalization of approximately €70 billion, ranking among the top financial groups in Europe, UniCredit has a presence in 20 countries worldwide, with over 35 million clients and 7,000 branches, approximately 142 thousand employees and total assets of approximately €822 billion as of 30 September 2006.
