UniCredit wins four prizes at the Milano Finanza Global Awards 2018
  • Jean Pierre Mustier received the Guido Carli / Lombard award for Banker of the Year
  • The Bank won category awards for "digital financial services" and "business financing services"
  • UniCredit Factoring was recognised for "value creation"

On the evening of June 12, 2018, the Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci of Milan, hosted the annual awards ceremony for "Milano Finanza Global Awards 2018", recognising and awarding the companies and personalities of the banking and financial sector in Italy that have demonstrated best in class performance in 2017.

Jean Pierre Mustier, CEO of UniCredit, received the Guido Carli / Lombard award as Banker of the Year 2017. Last year was pivotal for UniCredit, thanks to the implementation of the Transform 2019 plan, which has enabled the Bank to achieve tangible results leading to constantly improving financial performance. Transform 2019 has laid the foundations for the future success and growth of the Group. In 2017, UniCredit successfully completed a fully subscribed capital increase of 13 billion euros and took decisive actions to de-risk the balance sheet, including the FINO transaction for 17.7 billion euros of non-performing loans.

UniCredit was also awarded two MF Innovation Awards.

The first award was in the "digital financial services" category, for the fast adoption of Apple Pay in Italy. This demonstrated UniCredit's commitment to providing concrete solutions to customer needs through a focus on digitalisation and innovation . Barbara Tamburini, Head of Transactional Products and Partnerships at UniCredit, accepted this award for the Bank.

The second award was in the "business financing services" category for Minibond, an innovative product. This alternative source of financing can act as a first, simple step for clients towards capital markets. Despite the complexity of bond loan products, the processes are simplified and standardised with high flexibility - clients can customise their reimbursement. UniCredit supports the client throughout the process, up to the signature and final issuance of the bond. The Bank fully subscribes the issuance and keeps it until maturity. The award was accepted by Jacopo Benucci, Head of Corporate Marketing, Business Strategy & Advisory, and Roberto Cassanelli, Head of Corporate Sales at UniCredit.

Finally, UniCredit Factoring was recognised with the Value Creator Prize . Present in the market for over 40 years, UniCredit Factoring was recognised as one of the companies that has most influenced the development of factoring in Italy. With a turnover of 39.5 billion euros and more than 10 billion euros in loans, UniCredit Factoring closed 2017 with a market share of 20.7 per cent and 300 professionals. Pietro Zardoni, Deputy General Manager and Head of the Sales Department at UniCredit Factoring, and Elvio Campagnola, Deputy General Manager and Head of Marketing & Business Support at UniCredit Factoring, collected this award.
