Bank Austria has given over one million bees a new home on the roof terrace of its headquarters in Vienna.
20 bee colonies have been buzzing away over the last year, forming an important part of the city’s ‘bee fleet’. The bank’s management team actively supported the beekeeper during the first honey harvest in summer and distributed an amazing 500 kilograms of organic honey to customers, partners and employees.
The bank set up two more bee colonies at its Sport & Training Center last autumn. While the bees are still in hibernation, preparation is underway for the educational workshops that will take place there. Pupils will have the chance to learn first-hand about the importance of ecology and biodiversity and find out more about the bees up close!
