UniCredit has disbursed over €500 million to 23,000 Italian businesses that have applied for a state guaranteed loan of up to €25,000 following the Italian liquidity decree announced on 8 April. The bank has strengthened and accelerated the process for loans applied for through the state guarantee scheme, speeding up the disbursement by anticipating the guarantee from the Central Fund.

Remo Taricani, UniCredit’s Co-CEO of Commercial Banking Italy commented: “There has been significant interest in these loans, 60-70 times more loan applications than we normally manage. To ensure help reach those who need it, we have allocated 450 additional people to deal with this specifically, all working remotely. Thanks to the strong effort of the team we have been able to significantly speed up the necessary operations and quickly provide the much needed support. We keep working tirelessly to continue to support Italian businesses throughout these challenging times.”
