United in Diversity: Celebrating Pride at UniCredit
Thursday 20 June 2024
As we cruise through the vibrant and meaningful month of June, UniCredit is proud to celebrate Pride Month, a time dedicated to spreading awareness and positivity within our workplace. This month is not just about parades and rainbow flags; it's about recognising and amplifying the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community. It's a time to promote equal rights for all and to acknowledge the importance of self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersexual, and allies, as we continue to nurture a safe, positive, and barrier-free workplace for all our people.
We understand the importance of raising awareness about the challenges and issues facing the LGBTQIA+ community, and we are committed to leveraging our resources to educate and share stories that shine a light on these topics.
Therefore, also this year, we are taking our support for Pride to the streets by becoming the official sponsor of local Pride parades in two key countries where our bank operates: Germany and Italy. This sponsorship is a concrete testimony of our commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community and the spirit of Pride Month, a commitment we share alongside our Employee Networks Unicorns, who bring boundless enthusiasm and passion to the cause.
Here's what to expect for Pride Month:
· UniCredit Bank GmbH will show its support as the official sponsor of the Pride Parade in Munich, Germany, on 22 June.
· UniCredit S.p.A will proudly sponsor the Pride Parade in Milan, our headquarters city in Italy, on 29 June.
Additionally, our colleagues actively participate in Pride Parades in various cities, with opportunities for spontaneous involvement, including:
· The Vienna Parade on 8 June, with an open invitation for colleagues to join individually.
· The London Parade and NY Parade, both on 29 June and 30 June respectively, with voluntary participation.
· The Prague Pride on 11 July, where UCB Czech Republic and Slovakia colleagues are encouraged to participate on an individual basis.
UniCredit aims to go beyond simply acknowledging Pride Month. We want to actively showcase our dedication to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and promoting these topics beyond this period in our different countries through dedicated initiatives for our employees.
Furthermore, we will light up the spire of our Group headquarters in the new Pride flag colours in support of this important occasion and in honour of the parade taking place in Milan that week.
