Championing Social: backing our communities and our people
Our social strategy is focused on addressing key social issues including youth, education, culture and innovation towards our common Purpose as a bank to 'Empower Communities to Progress'.
We champion social progress by investing in youth, education, innovation and community engagement, creating long-term value for individuals, communities and society. Our approach is guided by three priorities: empowering individuals through skills and opportunities, strengthening urban communities through inclusion and well-being and fostering innovation to support the digital and social transitions shaping Europe's future.
We bring this strategy to life through targeted social financing and investments, volunteering and scalable initiatives that generate measurable impact, while enabling our people and communities to realise their full potential.
Social Finance
Our social financing offer is focused on:
• Providing support via micro-credit, impact financing and loans to disadvantaged areas
• Supporting our communities with programmes promoting sustainable business practices for SMEs
• Progressing our social strategy to better support youth
Social Contribution
We are committed to going beyond our core banking business to create lasting social impact. In 2025, our social contribution reached €70.8 million - almost double our investment in 2022 - with the majority directed toward voluntary initiatives that strengthen communities and expand opportunities.
At the heart of our approach is a strong commitment to youth and education, which represents over half of our total social contribution. Together with UniCredit Foundation, we invest in skills, employability and equal access to education, helping the next generation unlock its potential and succeed in a rapidly changing world. Through education, financial literacy, re-skilling programmes, volunteering and targeted local initiatives, we support young people, women and vulnerable groups across Europe.
We also invest in arts and culture as a catalyst for community development and social inclusion, through flagship partnerships and local initiatives that promote creativity and broaden access to cultural experiences. In parallel, we support social welfare projects that address local needs, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable and inclusive progress.
UniCredit Foundation
The aim of the UniCredit Foundation is to unlock the potential of Europe's next generation by providing young people with enhanced and equal educational opportunities and the support they need to make their way in the academic and professional worlds. It prioritises three areas of impact: School, Job and University.

Volunteering
Volunteering is an important component of our social contribution and through our Group-wide policy of offering at least one paid volunteering day per year, colleagues are able to support communities where they live and work.
Expanding opportunities for our colleagues to volunteer remains a key priority for our bank and we continue to promote local and Group-wide volunteering initiatives that deliver positive social impact.
Support to employees
We promote flexibility, well-being and people care, enhancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I):
• We foster a culture of continuous learning through initiatives such as Culture Bootcamps, mentoring programmes, reskilling opportunities, and well-being workshops
• We cultivate an inclusive and diverse workplace through employee networks, bias-free processes and equal opportunities
• We prioritise employee well-being and quality of life through initiatives such as "Ask for Help" resources, flexible working arrangements, mental health awareness activities, prevention programmes, and local welfare benefits.
Social dialogue
At UniCredit, we believe that social dialogue contributes to value creation over time, by strengthening our ability to collaborate, listen and understand and address workforce priorities at both national and international level.
