Four Generations, One Team
Wednesday 24 September 2025
Four generations - Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials and Generation Z – working side by side. World-wide but also in our Bank.
It happens for the first time in history and today - the International Age Diversity Day – we want to recognise the value that each generation brings to our workplace and shared success.: from career-starters eager to learn to experienced colleagues with decades of practice, each one brings a unique set of skills, perspectives and energy.
The result? A powerful mix that enhances creativity, problem-solving, and overall performance.
Our workplace is evolving, and so are our career expectations. As people live and work longer, career well-being and longevity become critical topics.
For employees, longer careers mean more opportunities to grow, re-skill and mentor others. For our Bank, it means to rethink people career paths from the very beginning, support flexible work models and design benefits that reflect employees’ different life stages.

While advantages of a multigenerational workplace are undisputable, we also have to face the challenges it brings: different communication styles, digital habits, behaviour expectations.

But challenges are also opportunities, as Maria Chiara Manzoni, Head of Group Organisation People Analytics and Group Function P&C Strategic Partner, explains:
"The future is built where fresh ideas meet experienced insight. By investing in young minds and engaging them in our strategic projects, as we do with the NextGen Community, we spark innovation that paves the way of our next chapter. The journey has started at Holding level and it's now paving the way to a Group-wide perspective, to create opportunities for emerging talents to contribute, revolutionise, inspire, and help shape our Bank of the future."
From NextGen’s first full-scale edition of the Cross-Generational Mentoring Program within Client Solutions and Generation Tandems in Germany, to Talento Diffuso in Italy and Wisdom Hub across CEE, at UniCredit, we create opportunities to strengthen intergenerational collaboration, encouraging knowledge-sharing and breaking stereotypes.
International Age Diversity Day isn’t just about age, it’s about collaboration, reinvention and purpose.
Let’s continue to nurture our workplace with both experience and fresh thinking, so everyone feels included, inspired and empowered.
