Meet Irene Paola Ferranti

Advisory & Financing Solutions CEE, UniCredit Group, Milan

I’m Irene Paola – half Italian, half Bulgarian – and I began my career in investment banking with UniCredit in London. Over the past four years, I’ve held several roles and currently work in the Advisory & Financing Solutions (A&FS) CEE team, supporting client needs across the Central and Eastern European region with a broad range of products and services.

What I enjoy most is the variety. No two days are the same – I might cover more than 30 different topics, supporting clients ranging from start-up founders to senior executives and business owners. It’s intense but highly stimulating and rewarding, and I’m especially grateful for the trust and exposure I’ve been given.

What sets UniCredit apart from many other Italian blue chips is its international outlook and strong focus on inclusion and diversity.

I joined investment banking straight after university. A Google search for “challenging, stimulating and well-paid jobs” set me on this path. Today, my top skill is multitasking – something this role has honed even further.

Recently, I’ve gained valuable insights through working with Leveraged Finance, and being part of the Talent Programme has helped me expand both my network and skill set. What I particularly appreciate about UniCredit is the opportunity to be part of something bigger: supporting change and helping to shape the future of European banking.

My most meaningful moments? Positive client feedback. Whether it’s a thank-you note or a message to my manager, it reminds me why I do what I do. One moment I’ll never forget was being personally invited to join the A&FS team for a one-year rotation – it made me feel truly valued.

My day starts with my cat, Sage (my furry alarm clock), and a cappuccino from my favourite spot. After a full day of calls, pitches and emails, I unwind at the gym or by cooking with my boyfriend – and cuddling my animals: a cat, rabbit, dog and four horses.

Three words to describe my personality:

generous, ambitious, intellectually curious

Three words to describe my job:

stimulating, fast-paced, demanding

Meet Robert Schulze

Head of Pricing and Risk Model Infrastructure, UniCredit Bank GmbH, Germany

I’m Robert, and I currently lead the Pricing and Risk Model Infrastructure team at UniCredit Bank GmbH. Together with my colleagues, I develop and enhance UniCredit’s financial risk models in close collaboration with our Holding team. I also drive digitalisation, automation, and key financial risk projects across the bank.

What motivates me most is fostering collaboration and innovation. I enjoy bringing people together and creating a space where everyone feels empowered to contribute and grow. I believe in the strength of diverse teams and continuous learning.

Most recently, I’ve been managing the risk workstream of one of the Bank’s most critical projects. Working alongside colleagues from a variety of countries and backgrounds, I’ve seen first-hand how powerful true teamwork can be.

I don’t draw a sharp line between work and home life. If I come across something helpful or inspiring outside of work, I often bring it in – just as I might finish up a task after work. At the same time, I value the flexibility to take time out for my family when necessary. As a father of four, balance is essential, and I’m grateful UniCredit supports that with a genuinely flexible work environment.

Outside of work, I manage a parent-run childcare centre, enjoy cycling, and play both the guitar and the piano.

Three words to describe my personality:

calm, resourceful, open-minded.

Three words to describe my job:

analytical, rewarding, international.
