PARTNERS FOR SUSTAINABLE FINANCE
Tuesday 26 January 2021
UniCredit joins a new program launched by the Italian Stock Exchange to support the development of innovative corporate sustainable finance solutions in Italy.
Today UniCredit has joined the Italian Stock Exchange’s (Borsa Italiana) "Sustainable Finance Partnership" as a premium partner.
The project involves a selected group of banks and will encourage the sharing and development of innovative ideas and skills to help develop innovative corporate sustainable finance in Italy. By joining this initiative UniCredit aims at enhancing and sharing its expertise and experience on topics related to sustainability, a key part of the bank's DNA.
Through the Sustainable Finance Advisory Team, set up in 2019 within the Corporate & Investment Banking division, UniCredit is already committed to supporting businesses in the transition to a low-carbon economy, providing UniCredit's expertise in accessing sustainable finance tools available on the markets.
By the end of 2020, with 70 deals worth more than €15 billion, UniCredit was ranked fourth in EMEA in Dealogic's ranking of bonds and loans linked to ESG objectives.
“In 2021 we expect a constant growth in the ESG finance market with global issuance of green, social, sustainability and sustainability-linked bonds amounting to $570bn (+24% vs 2020). Key drivers will be the increased attention to social topics due to Covid-19, the implementation of the EU Taxonomy, stricter climate targets and an increased focus of issuers on overall sustainability performance across all sectors”
- Valeria Toscano, Head of Sustainable Finance Advisory Team Italy.
