From 14 to 16 May the second and final phase of the winning project in the competition launched by the European Commission in the field of Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities was held at the headquarters of UniCredit in Milan. The project was entitled "UEWC: Improving Cooperation to Strengthen Social Dialogue".
HR managers and members of the European Works Council from all the European countries in which the Group operates met for a three-day training event , with sessions covering European Labour Law & Industrial Relations, Business Processes & Financial Data, and Sustainability Reports.
Delegates participated in team activities and Q&A sessions with internal and external experts. Council members from Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Russia and Turkey gave presentations on their respective local industrial relations systems.
Professor Tiziano Treu of Catholic University of Sacred Heart in Milan, former Italian minister of labour, and Professor Antonio Ojeda-Aviles of the University of Seville gave excellent speeches on the issue of European Labour Law & Industrial Relations.
Sergio Scolaro, Head of Retail Division Planning, and Giorgio Capurri , Public and Community Relations, also spoke in their capacity as internal experts at the UniCredit group on the subjects of Business Processes & Financial Data and Sustainability Reports respectively.
The first phase of this highly innovative project, on the theme of social dialogue, was held at the UniManagement centre in March, and in the long term, the project aims to develop a corporate culture based on group and European values.
In the European Works Council's first year of activity, the experience gained by employees' representatives and shared with HR managers has added significant value, and has laid the foundations for a path to shared dialogue, thus adding a new dimension to industrial relations.
