Society and communities
We highly value the relationships we have forged with communities across Europe.
Our mission: to contribute to the development of the communities in which we operate
UniCredit Foundation was established in 2003 with the aim of contributing to developing solidarity and philanthropy in the communities and territories where our Group operates, helping build their capacity by transferring financial resources and management skills.
1. To serve as a center of expertise for philanthropic activities, offering advice and organizing activities for Group companies and their customers.
2. Supporting social inclusion: within its operational scope, UniCredit Foundation works to foster processes associated with social cohesion through social entrepreneurship, which is considered an effective tool for producing and delivering socially useful goods and services.
Most recently, the foundation has launched social inclusion projects in Austria, Bulgaria, Bosnia Herzegovina, Croatia, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Hungary.
Initiatives for UniCredit employees
UniCredit Foundation promotes a culture of volunteering and giving to the community, which has inspired dedicated efforts from many of UniCredit's 160,000 employees.
Since 2003, UniCredit Foundation has organized an annual gift-matching program to augment donations made by groups of UniCredit employees to nonprofit organizations.
In 2011, we launched Your Choice, Your Project, an initiative in which employees vote for the national-level projects they believe are the most deserving of their support.

Established in 2009, the UniCredit & Universities Foundation supports studies and research in the fields of economics and finance through the provision of annual scholarships, fellowships and awards. In addition, the foundation organizes a range of academic initiatives for talented young European scholars - activities that distinguishes UniCredit & Universities from other such foundations. Through its support to academia and research, the foundation reflects the remarkable geographic and cultural diversity of UniCredit and its values.
The foundation primarily operates in three main areas:
Support for studies
Each year, UniCredit & Universities offers numerous scholarships in economics, banking and finance to enable the best students to pursue a master's degree or Ph.D. abroad. In 2011, the foundation also began offering grants to undergraduates, both for study programs and internships abroad.
Support for research
The foundation promotes several initiatives to support research by young European economists through annual competitions for research fellowships and grants.
These initiatives aim to encourage promising talents to return home to Europe while recognizing superior academic research and Ph.D. dissertations.
UniCredit & Universities Foundation works with major European universities to organize workshops that serve as platforms for researchers and the members of its Scientific Committee to share their expertise with academic communities within UniCredit countries.
In July 2012, UniCredit & Universities signed a collaboration agreement with the Marco Fanno Association of Research Fellows. In this agreement, UniCredit & Universities pledged to continue the long and prestigious tradition of supporting the best students through payment of grants named after this illustrious economist.
