Filarmonica della Scala: the new 2023 season

The 42nd season of Filarmonica della Scala opens on Monday 23 January 2023 at 8 pm with Israeli conductor Lahav Shani, unanimously considered one of the most brilliant talents of the new generation.

In the new billboard, signed by art director Etienne Reymond, young talented artists and great performers follow one another in a stimulating comparison between generations.

The leading director Riccardo Chailly will conduct two concerts with the presence of Armenian violinist  Emmanuel Tjeknavorian and Hilary Hahn, three Grammy Awards violinist winner.

Gianandrea Noseda will be accompanied by Maria João Pires, a pianist with a noticeable sensitivity.

Pablo Heras-Casado will play with Jan Lisiecki at the piano and Andrés Orozco-Estrada with the brilliant soprano Christiane Karg will make their debut.

We will also see the delightful return of Vasily Petrenko, also accompanied by one of the greatest violinists of our time, Isabelle Faust from Germany.

A very well-known artist for la Filarmonica, with his more than one hundred and twenty concerts, will return: Myung-Whun Chung. Director Semyon Bychkov will conduct the Czech Philharmonic, this season's guest orchestra, returning to La Scala. Ottavio Dantone closes this overview, once again with the presence of a young artist such as the mezzo-soprano Cecilia Molinari.

The concerts at Teatro alla Scala will be echoed by international events on tour with Riccardo Chailly and the return to large European capitals such as Paris, Munich, Budapest, Amsterdam, Vienna as well as the philanthropic initiatives of the Open Rehearsals, specifically addressed to the new generations, of which the calendar is still being defined.

The PlayFilarmonica App, created in partnership with Musicom Audio Streaming, has recently been launched to listen to the Philharmonic's concerts on smartphones and tablets. Downloadable for free for Android and iOS (Playfilarmonica.musicom.it), the App collects live recordings of the performances as well as thematic insights and listening guides.
