The 52nd Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition
UniCredit will support DARC in the Italian Pavilion. The Group will also support Francesco Vezzoli's Democrazy, which will be given on long-term loan to the MAXXI Museum
UniCredit Group is honoured to announce its support of DARC - The Contemporary Art and Architecture Directorate of the Arts Ministry - in the production of the new Italian Pavilion, at the Tese delle Vergini (near the Arsenale), curated by Ida Gianelli, and which is the most awaited aspect of the 52nd Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition
which will run from 10th June to 21st November 2007.
UniCredit will also be financing young artist Francesco Vezzoli's, Democrazy which will be exhibited in the Pavilion. This work will become part of the Group's Collection which counts over 50,000 international level works with a particular focus on the work of talented young artists.
DARC will receive Democrazy on loan term loan from UniCredit at the close of the Biennale, for the opening of MAXXI, the National Museum of XXI Century Art and Architecture in Rome.
This long term loan further confirms UniCredit's commitment in the arts, especially towards contemporary languages and talented young artists, via the Group's active social role and the setting up of a platform which brings together all the actors on the arts scene: artists, universities, academies, museums cultural and local institutions, publishers, gallery owners, auction houses.
Contemporary art is one means to communicate with the Group's public - a Group which is now pan European, as it is present in 20 European countries - to express UniCredit's key positioning values: innovation, reaching new prospectives, open mindedness, and an ability to respect and enhance differences.
