As part of the merger of the investment banking activities of BA-CA, HypoVereinsbank and UniCredit into the UniCredit Markets & Investment Banking (MIB) division, the research operations are being reorganized. Thorsten Weinelt will be the Head of Global Research of the UniCredit Markets & Investment Banking Division, which includes Equity, Credit, Fixed Income & FX as well as the Economics & Commodity Research. Thorsten Weinelt, who will report directly to Sergio Ermotti, Head of UniCredit's Markets & Investment Banking Division, has been responsible for HypoVereinsbank's Global Research operations since 2004.
Marco Annunziata will be the new Global Chief Economist
Marco Annunziata will be the new Global Chief Economist of the UniCredit MIB division and will lead the Global Economics & FI/FX Research department. He has been Head of Economics & FI/FX Research at UniCreditBanca Mobiliare (UBM) since 2003. Marco has a PhD in Economics from Princeton University and a BA from Bologna University. He started his career as an Economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC. After six years with the IMF, he joined Deutsche Bank in London as Chief Economist for the EEMEA region.
Marco Valli will be the new Chief Italian Economist
Marco Valli is appointed Chief Italian Economist, based in Milan. Marco first received a Master in Quantitative Finance from Bocconi University and then worked there at the IGIER research institute. He began his career on the buy-side, working as an Economist for Fideuram Investment, before joining UniCredit in 2004.
