With this launch today, all our individual clients have the possibility to adopt and use a mobile payment option".
Elena Ungureanu, Country Manager Visa: "It is only a matter of time until mobile payments gain further momentum/ are adopted on a large scale, taking into account the Romanians' appetite for using mobile devices and the modern payment infrastructure in our country. Mobile payments work on the same contactless terminals that consumers already use when paying with a contactless debit or credit card, enjoying increased mobility and security. Over 7 out of 10 Visa cards in Romania can be used with Google Pay for payments at any contactless POS. Together with UniCredit, we are delighted to be able to offer this service to Visa cardholders, who will now be able to use their connected Android devices to pay contactless, in a secure and convenient way."
