Milan Italy

Starting Nov. 29 the city of Milan will celebrate Arnaldo Pomodoro's 90th birthday with a series of exhibitions at four different venues across the city.

UniCredit will be the Team Partner for the "Arnaldo Pomodoro" exhibition at the Palazzo Reale. Featuring works he created from 1955 through the present, this will be the most important event in this retrospective. Open to the public starting Nov. 30, the show, curated by Ada Masoero, will present about 30 of Pomodoro's best-known sculptures in the Sala delle Cariatidi.

Meanwhile the Piazzetta Reale will host The Pietrarubbia Group, an environmental sculptural work which Pomodoro started  in 1975 and has been modifying for roughly 40 years. This will be the first time it has ever been exhibited in its entirety.

The Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro in via Vigevano and the Triennale di Milano will use scale models, drawings and photos to explain four major projects related to the Pietrarubbia monument, the Urbino cemetery, the Bevagna wine cellar and the Symposio Minoa in Marsala.

Finally, a selection of 16 scenery design projects that Pomodoro produced for the theater from 1982 to 2009 will be on display at the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in the Sala del Collezionista.

This initiative will also offer guided tours of the works, each of which will take in the displays at the various museums and outdoor sites around the city.

A series of additional events will be held in order to explain Pomodoro's broad artistic output. Educational activities for young people will be organized by the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation's Educational Department.

The project will conclude on February 5, 2017.
