Luoghi del Tempo: An Installation on the Palazzo del Credito Italiano Facade
In honor of Milan Design Week (Aprile 12-17), from April 5 - 17 UniCredit will present an installation by the Italian artist Francesco Candeloro on the Palazzo Cordusio facade, also known as Palazzo del Credito Italiano, in Piazza Cordusio in Milan.
Starting from a reflection on the many ways of looking at things, Candeloro's works draw connections between architecture, cities and spectators through the medium of light. He uses different materials and techniques for his pieces, isolating details from photographic images and transferring them to plexiglass sheets or cubes with the use of a spray gun.
The installation includes six windows of Palazzo del Credito Italiano - two on the ground floor and four on the second floor - which will be illuminated every day until midnight.
Through an interplay of light that links the palazzo's interior and exterior, the artist strives to strengthen the dialogue between everyday life and city's historical roots. His decision to use the shape of the central Filarete Tower of the Sforza Castle on the plexiglass underlines this key point.
UniCredit has long supported young talent. For an international group like ours, art is a language that facilitates dialogue between different cultures and creates opportunities to connect with the many different communities in which we live and work. It is our firm belief that the work of young artists generates the kind of energy and new ideas that are essential to sustainable development.
