Mart, Rovereto

From March 19 to July 24, 2011, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto (Mart) is working together with the Musée d'Orsay of Paris to present A Revolution in Looking. Impressionist and Post-Impressionist Works from the Musée d'Orsay. Because of this partnership, it will be possible to see, for the first time outside of France, a selection of 75 major works by Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists, including some of the greatest masters of the 19th and 20th centuries. Certain works, including Gustave Courbet's L'Origine du Monde, are being shown for the first time in Italy.

The exhibition was conceived and curated by Guy Cogeval, president of the Musée d'Orsay, and Isabelle Cahn, while Gabriella Belli, director of the Mart, served as its academic director. The show is divided into eight sections under the following headings: "The Artist Is No Longer Alone," "The Marginalized Artist," "Places of Impressionism," "Parade," "Inner Listening," "Family," "Male-Female" and "Earthly Paradise." These thematic categories are intended to illustrate the powerful links connecting art and artists to the society of their time.

Of particular interest within this rich and interesting exhibition is a display of the entire series of bronze Dancers by Degas.

UniCredit and Mart are partners.Together we support cultural activities designed to explore the world of contemporary art and to promote young talent.
