New Exhibition Modigliani Sculptor at the MART, Rovereto
On December 18, 2010, the MART (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto) will present Modigliani Sculptor, scheduled to run through March 27, 2011.
The project, conceived and curated by Gabriella Belli, Flavio Fergonzi and Alessandro del Puppo, with the support of the Scientific Committee, focuses on the sculpture of the Italian figurative artist Amedeo Modigliani.
From 1911 to 1913, Modigliani set aside his paintbrushes and dedicated himself to sculpture, which he considered a unique synthesis of tradition and originality. His pieces span a diverse range of styles, from the archaic to the medieval and from the renaissance to suggestively Oriental pieces that evoke the works of Picasso and Brancusi. Of the 25 sculptures identified as Modigliani's in 1965, only 16 are on display in public collections; the remaining nine works either are in private hands or have disappeared.
UniCredit is a partner of MART. Together, we support cultural initiatives that enhance of our shared contemporary artistic heritage and the work of young artists.
