Museums of the 21st Century: Concepts, Projects and Buildings
From October 23, 2010 to January 2, 2011, the Mart (Contemporary and Modern Art of Trento and Rovereto) is pleased to host the exhibition Museums of the 21st Century: Concepts, Projects and Buildings.
In the last 10 years, many initiatives have combined contemporary architecture with museum building projects. This trend compels us to reflect on the relationship between works of art and the exposition spaces in which they are displayed.
The Mart's show is curated by Suzanne Greub, director of the Art Center Basel. It builds upon the previous exhibition Museums for a New Millennium: Concepts, Projects and Buildings, which was prepared by Greub in 2000 and shown in museums around the world. Today's exhibition presents current trends in museum buildings through 26 representations of the most significant architectural projects since 2000.
Also on exhibit at the Mart from October 23, 2010 to January 9, 2011, is the work of the young American figurative artist Dana Schutz, which she created with the support of the "Young in the Future" program dedicated to promising artists.
UniCredit is a partner of the Mart. Together, we support cultural activities with a view to enhancing contemporary art and the work of young talent.
