The Munich anniversary celebrations, with the HypoVereins Bank
Concerts, exhibitions, conferences, guided tours and shows : this summer, Munich's cultural offerings have something for everyone in the celebrations of the 850th anniversary of the city's founding. And Munich is also the home town of one of the banks that form part of the UniCredit Group: the HypoVereins Bank. This is a bank which has grown hand in hand with the economic expansion of Munich , the city which has provided the bank with the stimulus and the strength to open up to the new European markets.
And the HVB will be actively involved in the programme of events: with its e-cards bearing the motifs of the city, the Bank will launch its " Munich Bonds", created especially for the event to allow its clients to invest in their own city. Furthermore, a special exhibition of HVB's banknote collection will be held in five of its Munich branches.
As regards the town's younger citizens, this year also marks the 200th anniversary of the founding of Munich's Academy of Fine Arts: a school of excellence and among the oldest in the whole of Europe, linked to such names as Peter von Cornelius, Wilhelm von Kaulbach, Wilhelm Leibl, Franz Marc, Wassily Kandinsky and PaulKlee. For this occasion, it was the HVB that opened the celebrations, and UniCredit also contributed with its support of a cycle of conferences and meetings entitled " FÖHN, FORM, FERSTAND", focusing on the mutual influences between the city and its Academy.
And speaking of musical passions, as part of Munich's anniversary year, there is a special link between Germany and Italy , one which leads straight to the Arena of Verona. The Arena is also one of UniCredit's partnerships, and to mark the beginning of the new opera season, the HVB came up with a fantastic gift for the city: 300 Munich citizens who have made significant contributions to the city and who represent the main public institutions , will depart for Verona on special "music trains". The most important moment of the trip, which will take place in the weekend of 12th-13th July, will be when they attend the performance of Tosca by Giacomo Puccini, the great Maestro of Italian opera.
