From February 23rd to June 1st, MART's main exhibition spaces will be home to Vincenzo Agnetti — in his first retrospective, curated by Achille Bonito Oliva and Giorgio Verzotti — and to Chinese artist Chen Zhen — in a project co-produced by the Vienna Kunsthalle and curated by Gerald Matt and Ilse Lafer.

Agnetti's retrospective includes works from 1967 to 1980. This artist was one of the leading lights of conceptual art in Italy and this show will show the relevance of his works within the international art scene and offers a chance to appreciate his role as a forerunner of much research which today is based upon an initial theoretical reflection on the nature of a work of art. Meanwhile the exhibition by Chen Zhen entitled Body and Landscape is the first retrospective to be hosted in Italy following the artist's early death in Paris in 2000. Body and Landscape includes a rich selection of works and installations from international museums and private collections, the show by the Chinese artist has also a section dedicated to his unfinished projects which have never been shown to the public before. The MART exhibition presents paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures and installations produced over more than ten years, from 1989 to 2000.

From February 23 to August 31 the MART's permanent collection presents itself in a new arrangement including 80 works from the early 19th-century: Capolavori del primo '900. Opere dalle collezioni permanenti del Mart (Masterpieces from MART's Permanent Collection) curated by Gabriella Belli and Nicoletta Boschiero, and allows the visitors to retrace the key passage of the History of Art through works by such prominent artists as Medardo Rosso, Fortunato Depero, Giorgio de Chirico, Alberto Savino, Carlo Carrà, Massimo Campigli, Mario Sironi, Giorgio Morandi, Lucio Fontana and Piero Manzoni.

While the MART Library foyer plays host, from February 23rd, to an exhibition with 420 volumes from Vanni Scheiwiller's artist's books collection, the Museum recently acquired. The Nuove Acquisizioni. La collezione di libri d'artista di Vanni Scheiwiller (New Acquisitions. Vanni Scheiwiller's Artist's Books Collection) exhibition is curated by the Archivio del '900 del MART (MART 20th-Century Archive) in collaboration with Cecilia Gibellini and Alina Scheiwiller.

The collective exhibition which opened last November entitled The Word in Art. 20th-Century Avant-Garde Research. From Futurism to the Present Day seen through Mart's Collections, runs until 6th April. The exhibition explores the relation between words and images through 800 works from MART's collections, from avant-garde movements to contemporary trends. Curated by an academic committee composed by Gabriella Belli, Achille Bonito Oliva, Andreas Hapkemeyer, Nicoletta Boschiero, Paola Pettenella, Melania Gazzotti, Daniela Ferrari, Julia Trolp, and Giorgio Zanchetti, the show is realized in collaboration with the MUSEION - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Bozen.

UniCredit has been the main partner of MART, Rovereto and Trent, providing particular support to the contemporary wing of the museum.
