Today at the MAXXI, Rome, there is the press conference of the next edition of Manifesta, the European Biennial of Contemporary Art

The seventh edition of Manifesta — which involves for the first time an entire region Trentino-Alto Adige / Südtirol, involving four cities (Fortezza, Bozen, Trento and Rovereto) — is presented today at the MAXXI of Rome.
The prestigious European Biennial of Contemporary Art distinguishes itself as consolidated support and promoter of young artists in an international context , with the aim of strengthening the European identity.
The Biennial has been introduced today by Anna Mattirolo MAXXI Art-Director, Margaret Cogo-Vice President and Head of Culture of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Antonio Lampis-Director of the Italian Culture breakdown of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Birgit Oberkofler Department Director-German culture of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Hedwig Fijen-7 Manifesta Committee Chairman and Director International Foundation Manifesta Amsterdam, Fabio Cavallucci-coordinator of Manifesta 7 in Trento, Andreas Hapkemeyer-7 Coordinator Manifesta in Bolzano, Adam Budak-Curator of the exhibition in Rovereto, Shuddhabrata Sengupta for Raqs Media Collective-Curators of the exhibition of Bolzano, together with Gerhard Brandstätter - President of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano, Catterina Seia - Project Manager UniCredit & Art, Paolo Cellini-Internet Group Director-Seat Pagine Gialle.

The Biennial has an itinerant model, which involves in every edition different contexts and realities. This year, it moves along a path linking Northern and Southern Europe along the Brenner: Fortress (Brixen), former Alumix in Bolzano, Palazzo Postal Services in Trento, Tobacco and former Manifattura Peterlini in Rovereto.

The curators, selected by the Board of the International Foundation Manifesta between more than twenty candidates, will operate as idependent units as follows: Adam Budak in Rovereto; Anselm Franke and Hila Peleg in Trento; Raqs Media Collective, formed by Jeebesh Bagchi, Monica Narula & Shuddhabrata Sengupta, in Bolzano.
At Fortezza, the fourth place, the different curatorial teams will work together.

Many collateral events will take place all over the area during the Biennial: hundreds of exhibitions, concerts, performances, pieces. Educational programmes will also be organized with various activities focused on contemporary art in order to offer moments of reflection and learning.

Together with the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, the Autonomous Province of Trento, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano and Seat Pagine Gialle, UniCredit supports Manifesta 7.

In particular UniCredit will be "production partner", through the project UniCredit & Art, in a sort of "shared commission", already started with other institutions (for example MAMbo Bologna, MAXXI Rome itself). Not sponsorhip therefore, but a shared production that wants to operate in collaboration with the cultural institutions, and to promote the experience of art as a moment of dialogue and comparison, with the common aim of supporting the art system and the young talented artists.
