"Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro Prize" - An exhibition of selected works
On May 18 an exhibition of the works selected for the "Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro Prize" will open, featuring artists under 40.
Established by Arnaldo Pomodoro himself, this first edition of the prize is intended to promote the creativity of young artists at the international level and offer them a space to express themselves.
The nearly 600 entries from all over the world are an unequivocal sign of the enormous attention that this initiative has generated. At the same time, the broad participation and the quality of the works submitted underscore the great vitality that sculpture is enjoying today, interpreted here in all its declensions: from large-scale installations to diminutive works inspired by the jeweller's art, from sculpture created for the outdoors as sites of assembly and citizenship to works intended to be experienced physically, which in some cases trespass into architecture and land art.
The works were chosen by an international jury composed of Kosme de Barañano (Spain), Sokari Douglas Camp (Nigeria/U.K.), Susan Ferleger Brades (U.K.), Tom Freudenheim (U.S.A.), Hou Hanru (China/France), Arturo Carlo Quintavalle (Italy) and Arnaldo Pomodoro.
On opening day, May 18, the winners of the three top prizes will be announced. There will also be a special prize awarded by Costa Crociere S.p.A., sponsor of the show.
The exhibition is organised in partnership with UniCredit Group as part of its project of fostering young creative talents.
The initiative enjoys the patronage of the Region of Lombardy's Culture, Identity and Autonomy department, the Province of Milan and the Municipality of Milan - Sport and Youth sector.
