Wouldn’t it be great to put our commuting time to good use, create a healthy working environment, make your meetings more successful and be able to leave work relaxed

2:00 Min

All this – and more – can be done, by taking just ten minutes of your day for yourself and your mind. Here are some tips that will leave a positive impact on your mind.

Before we start to improve efficiency, have a look at these tips to improve your posture.

1. Posture

You may not know it, but the way we hold ourselves impacts how we feel, and how others relate to us. Try to sit up straight, with your shoulders relaxed. Sitting like this will help your mood, and encourage you to breathe deeply, enhancing your relaxation.

Try this breathing exercise: place your hand on the lower part of your belly. While breathing in, feel your belly expanding. Breathe in through the nose, count to four and exhale through the mouth, while counting to four once again.

2. Relaxation exercises

Most stress is not caused by external events but rather by how our mind interprets things happening around us. When you feel overwhelmed, find yourself a quiet spot and put on some relaxing music. Make yourself comfortable and close your eyes. Breathe deeply for a few minutes. Focus on your legs and release all the tension from them when exhaling. Do the same with your torso, arms, fingers, shoulders, back and neck.  While doing this exercise, you may notice that thoughts keep popping up in your head. Don’t try to block the thoughts, but instead attempt to just let them appear and gently disappear.

3. Exercising at the office

Who said that exercising is not possible at work? Not only are gentle and regular exercises at your workplace feasible, but they are also highly beneficial, favouring a healthier working life and balanced mindset. A survey has shown that after exercising at work, as many as 60 per cent of employees felt more motivated to work, dealt with stress and deadlines more easily and noticed improvements in their mental ability. No matter how packed your workday is, these simple stretching and Yoga exercises will take you only a few minutes and they will also improve your ability to tackle the workload.
