DEVELOPING THE FUTURE EXPERTS IN QUANTITATIVE FINANCE
10 March 2021

UniCredit Bulbank launches a new Master’s degree programme.

UniCredit Bulbank and The University of National and World Economy (UNWE) have signed an agreement to create a joint Master’s programme in one of the most desired and attractive areas in the financial sphere – Quantitative Finance.

The two institutions will co-develop the curriculum to help create a closer link between science, education and business.

UniCredit Bulbank CEO and Chairman of the Management Board, Teodora Petkova, underlined the need for qualified professionals and how their database management skills would be key for companies’ operations. UNWE Rector, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, also emphasised that partnering with UniCredit Bulbank would benefit both businesses and the University, educating our future economic and financial experts.

Under the new programme, students would have more career development opportunities and the chance to receive on-site knowledge from UniCredit’s experts.

Teodora Petkova, Chairperson of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of UniCredit Bulbank.

"Data analytics is one of the skills of the future. The new Master's programme in Quantitative Finance will create leaders in an area that businesses have a growing need for. Data analysts improve the ability of companies to make smart decisions in situations of unprecedented change and help predict future trends. I am glad to return to UNWE, this time as a representative of the largest bank in our country, UniCredit Bulbank, to combine our efforts in developing the future experts in Quantitative Finance”

The coordinator of the agreement on behalf of UniCredit Bulbank is Borislav Bangeev, Chief Risk Officer and Member of the Management Board. The programme will start in the 2021/2022 academic year.

Quantitative Finance is taught at a number of leading universities worldwide, such as Baruch College, City University of New York, Princeton University, Columbia University, University of Washington, University of Strathclyde, UK, Glasgow. UNWE will become the first university in Bulgaria to offer students the opportunity to study this Master's programme.
