The Covid-19 pandemic has confirmed to us all the importance of digitalisation, which was already a key pillar of our Team 23 plan. We have now accelerated on its delivery and a good example of this is the new DigitALL initiative

2:00 min

What is it?

  • It is our new digital workplace, and will allow us to interact and communicate more effectively
  • It will encompass new tools and functionalities to offer a unified, agile, digital platform for the future
  • It will allow us to search for and share knowledge more effectively within the Group, fostering a stronger collaboration culture

Daniele Tonella, Group CIO and CEO of UniCredit Services, and Max Hohenberg, Head of Group Identity & Communication, introduce us to this innovation.

Daniele, how will DigitALL help us to collaborate better in our daily activities?

First, of all, this new environment will help us store and share protected and classified documents securely and work smarter in a collaborative hub for teamwork bringing together people and contents.

Not only that but it will allow us to engage effectively, by communicating in real-time with best-in-class audio-video conference tools.

We will also find help faster with improved ticketing tools and user experience for on-line help.

Can you give us some examples of these new tools?

Some of them are already in use, such as Windows 10 and WebEx, with others in the pipeline. As announced recently, we are now ready to launch the “Teams” tool – through which we can chat, collaborate, and share in a single workspace. Colleagues can access e-mail, documents, contacts, and calendars from whichever device they use, all with a single Sign-on.

At the moment, it is only available to colleagues at UniCredit Services, but we will start extending to the whole Group over the coming year.

You also mentioned improved ticketing tools and on-line help.

Yes, looking forward in our journey, Service Now will replace our existing ‘Remedy’ ticketing tool. Also, together with the Group Transformation Office, we are developing a Self-Support tool to limit the time spent looking for help.

Max, from a communications perspective, why do you think the DigitALL initiative is so important?

What the past months have shown us very impressively is the value of staying closely connected as a team across the Group. Technology and a huge effort from all teams has made the difference and has helped to keep us more united that ever before.

We are One UniCredit, yet today we use 27 different platforms often with their own content to communicate across the Group. So, despite being One UniCredit we often get different realities in our internal communication.

In fact, we are just about to launch our new Group-wide Intranet platform.

Can you tell us more about this?

The platform will replace our old fragmented set up. One coherent information platform conceived within DigitALL accessible for all of us, from all devices, anywhere.

When we were devising the new setup, we asked colleagues what they wanted from the platform. The responses we received were: two-way communication through social features, on-line communities and Yammer, which will be our new internal social media.

We started working on this pre-Covid, but the pandemic has only strengthened our focus and resolve of getting this done on time. It’s a big project, and I am thankful to everyone for their fantastic teamwork across IT, Security, Legal, Compliance and Identity and Communication across all countries of the Group, who brought us to this point.

Sounds great! When can colleagues start using it?

We are nearly ready so get ready. More news will follow on the Group and local Intranets shortly. This will be the first time ever in the history of this Group that all employees will be on the same platform. That is a great moment – and you will be part of it!
