The social impact project helps those with mobility issues by providing finance for the company distributing Alinker “walking bikes” in Italy
UniCredit continues its commitment towards a more equal and inclusive society by financing Movimento Srl, a company that has been granted the contract for import and exclusive commercial distribution of Alinker “walking bikes” in Italy. The revolutionary device has three wheels, no pedals and is non-powered. It offers a solution to help those with mobility issues but don’t want to give up moving autonomously.
This means of transport helps movement not only from a physical perspective but also has a significant psychological and perception impact on bike users. Almost 60 per cent of people that use a wheelchair still have the use of their legs lose the ability to use them as they get progressively weaker from sitting in the wheelchair. Alinker allows users to maintain strength in their legs and support their body, meaning people can stay active and independent for longer.
The social impact loan of €50,000 provided by UniCredit Social Impact Banking and guaranteed by the European Investment Fund (EIF) has a biannual lifespan, with the objective of supporting the company’s growth.
