Italy - Rest Cent
In June 2020, the Rest-Cent Italy initiative was launched in Italy as well, an initiative launched in previous years in Germany, whereby colleagues can join the fundraising effort by donating cents of their net salary to non-profit organisations active in the social sector and UniCredit Foundation will double the entire amount donated. Work has also begun on implementing the initiative in other Group countries.
In particular, the choice made for this first edition of the initiative was to focus attention on cancer patients, a category of people who have seen their quality of life and chances of treatment compromised by the COVID-19 emergency. For this reason, donations collected through the initiative until the end of December 2020 was donated to the Fondazione ANT Italia Onlus (www.ant.it), which provides free specialist medical assistance at home to cancer patients at no cost to their families.
As Maurizio Beretta, Chairman of UniCredit Foundation, emphasised, "I am really pleased that an initiative born of the enthusiasm of our German colleagues is gradually spreading to other countries, starting with Italy. I think it is a fine expression of our One Team, One UniCredit spirit".
The partecipation to the initiative, which has been a great success, is strictly voluntary and can be changed every month.
