The mission of the W3C is to bring the World Wide Web to its full potential by developing protocols and guidelines that ensure the long-term growth of the Web.


According to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 governing accessibility requirements, a website must be:

  • Perceivable

            Content must be available in different formats to offer alternative ways of understanding

  • Understandable

            The body of the text must be readable, in a consistent logical sequence and concrete in its content.

  • Robust

            The site must provide for maximum compatibility with other existing and future digital tools.

  • Usable

            The navigation path must be intuitive to find information quickly, while allowing people time to read and use the content, which should be neutral.
