Group General Manager
Roberto Nicastro was born in Trento (TN) on December 9th, 1964. He holds a degree in Business Administration at Bocconi University.
In 1988-89 he was guest researcher at Bocconi University.
From 1989 to 1991 he worked for the M & A Department at Salomon Brothers in London.
From 1991 to 1997 he was Senior Manager at McKinsey & Co. responsible for strategic and organizations projects for financial institutions, regulatory authorities and consumer goods companies in Italy and Latin America.
He joined Credito Italiano in 1997 as Head of Planning, Control and Participations.
In 2000 he was appointed as Head of New Europe Division of UniCredit in charge of developing a leading position in Central and Eastern Europe.
In 2003 he became Head of Group Retail Division.
In 2007 he was appointed Group Deputy CEO with the responsibility for Retail.
Since 2010 Roberto Nicastro is the Group General Manager of UniCredit, currently with responsibility for Central Eastern Europe, Poland, Austria, Innovation, Group Internal Control System, and Strategic Marketing.
He is also Deputy Chairman of Supervisory Board of Pekao S.A. and Member of the Supervisory Board of Bank Austria AG Vienna, UniCredit Bank Zao - Moscow; Deputy Vice Chairman of ABI (Italian Banking Association). He serves in the Advisory Boards of SDA Bocconi - Milan, John Hopkins - Bologna and Alma - Bologna, and he is member of the AIFI Private Equity Management Board, Member of Assonime.
From 2009 to 2012 he served as Chairman of EFMA (European Financial Marketing Association).
