Bart started his career in the financial industry joining ING Group in 1995, moving in 2003 to the insurance sector as Managing Director Group Pensions of Nationale Nederlanden.

In March 2006, he was appointed as Member of the Board of Directors in Postbank N.V - the leading retail direct-bank of the Netherlands, which was A 100% subsidiary of the ING Group.

Less than a year later, in January 2007, Bart became the Chief Operating Officer of ING Netherlands during which time he contributed to the merger of with two other large banks in The Netherlands into ING.  At the same time he lead the processes redesign and implementation of the omnichannel and agile way of working, transforming the company into a real front runner in the global financial industry.

In February 2017, he took over as Chief Transformation Officer/Chief Operating Officer and Member of the Executive Committee of Sberbank in Moscow, leading the digitalization of the customer journey while transforming and innovating the products and platforms implementation approach.

In 2018, he moved to Munich to become the CEO of Allianz Direct, where he was responsible for the global direct business of Allianz Group setting new standards in the insurance industry throughout digital innovation and processes optimization.

In October 2022, Bart was appointed as Group Chief Operating Officer and member of the Group Executive Committee at UniCredit.
