UniCredit in times of Covid-19: part of the solution

In times of Covid-19, UniCredit has been fully committed to strategic priorities in order to accelerate transformation, support local businesses and provide help to communities.

In times of Covid-19, UniCredit has been fully committed to strategic priorities in order to accelerate transformation, support local businesses and provide help to communities.

"I believe that banks have a central role to play in any functioning society.

We collectively and individually have a duty to do more than simply enhance a client's experience.

We exist to empower and enable communities, allowing customers to achieve,

prosper and lead the lives they want to lead.

Banks do so much more than keep the wheels of society turning. They provide opportunities.

They allow the young student to continue his education beyond high school.

They allow a young family to buy their first home.

They allow the promising entrepreneur to have an idea and build her company from the ground up."

Andrea Orcel - CEO of UniCredit

As a bank, we want to always be part of the solution supporting the economy and the communities in which we operate.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, the bank has been fully committed to strategic priorities in order to accelerate transformation, support local businesses and provide help to communities, boosting innovation and digitalization.

Throughout the health emergency, we remained open for business and continued to serve customers in all our countries, while keeping them and our people safe. We did this by accelerating the switch to digital and remote banking, giving our people the opportunity to work safely and effectively, while making sure they could continue to contribute.

In the countries were we operate, we stood by our employees, families, local communities and companies both large and small.

While all this began as a response to the health crisis, the ongoing situation led to pronounced changes in our clients' behaviours and needs, as well as developments in our own. The Covid-19 pandemic created a need and an opportunity to accelerate our transformation.

Starting from 2021 we are leveraging on the actions already put in place and putting even more emphasis on our business support initiatives, as well as boosting our ESG efforts, to do our part in supporting the recovery phase.

The Group's new strategic plan, scheduled for 1 October, will provide more detailed information on the future impact of the pandemic on the business evolution.
