Dow Jones Sustainability Index

UniCredit Group has been an index component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) since 2000.

The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) covers a narrow selection of the biggest 2,500 companies in the Dow Jones World Index in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria.

According to the rating agencies, UniCredit Group has improved in terms of its overall sustainability performance year-on-year both in absolute value and in relative terms when compared with the rest of the financial sector. Very satisfactory results have been reached in the economic and social dimensions with respectively strong performances in the categories of risk and crisis management and talent attraction and development. The greatest improvement is shown in the environmental dimension.

These results award our efforts to align to the highest international standards for sustainability reporting through our group-wide Sustainability Report.

FTSE4Good Index Series

UniCredit Group has been a member of the FTSE4Good Index Series since 2001.

Created and managed by the FTSE Group, this index is made up of an innovative series of real-time indexes designed to reflect the performances of companies that meet globally recognized CSR standards; it was developed to encourage investment in those companies.

A committee of independent SRI and CSR experts periodically review the indexes to ensure that they are an accurate reflection of current CSR best practices.

Ethibel Sustainability Index’s Excellence Global Register

In the field of sustainable development, our transparency has proven to be one of our greatest assets. It is one of the reasons why UniCredit Group was listed on the Ethibel Sustainability Index’s (ESI) Excellence Global Register in 2007.

Ethibel, an independent non-profit organization, has provided banks with SRI advisory services and has promoted open dialogue among companies, governments, unions, NGOs and investors in Europe since 1992.
Those included on Ethibel’s list of standout companies for best practices in the area of sustainability undergo rigorous screening. For this reason, UniCredit Group is honored to be included on the list.

oekom Research AG

UniCredit Group was validated with the Prime Status in the oekom research AG annual review. Our Prime Status was earned because of our position among the world’s best financial companies and our fulfillment of the best-in-class requirements for the financial industry.

Oekom research, a Germany-based primary rating agency, assigned UniCredit Group particularly high marks in the social and cultural category, while our social and ethical policies and external reporting received top scores.

Climate Disclosure Leadership

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an independent not-for-profit organization, chose to include UniCredit Group in its Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) for the first time in 2007.
