UniCredit Foundation

UniCredit Foundation

The UniCredit Foundation was established in 2003 to promote a culture of modern corporate philanthropy, civic engagement, cooperation and volunteerism.

The foundation is a separate legal entity funded solely by our Group. It identifies, manages and monitors – in partnership with local non-governmental organizations – development projects in countries where UniCredit is present as well as in other regions, including Sub-Saharan Africa.

The UniCredit Foundation supports many economic and social development initiatives, and promotes our Group’s Employee Community Involvement (ECI) program. The foundation acts as a bridge between UniCredit employees interested in channeling their energy and skills toward volunteerism and community engagement, and the needs of targeted communities.

Key results achieved in 2010 include:

  • allocation of roughly €5.8 million to feasibility studies and projects, while total investment in Employee Community Involvement (ECI) reached approximately €4.5 million
  • the UniCredit Foundation matched with a donation of €250,000 UniCredit employees’ contribution of €340,000 to 16 non-profit organizations that provided the people of Haiti with assistance after the earthquake, for a total amount of €590,000
  • a contribution of more than €134,000 linked to employees participation in the annual UniCredit People Survey (link)to support La Strada – Ukraine, an organization helping street children in Kiev, as the foundation donated €1 for each questionnaire completed in the framework of People Survey 2010 for La Strada initiative
  • over 10,000 employees from 17 countries raised €2.8 million for the 2010 Gift Matching Program, as UniCredit Foundation matched staff contributions and donated an additional €2.5 million, supporting 404 solidarity projects for selected non-profit organizations
