Our suppliers are business partners and stakeholders in UniCredit. Our Integrity Charter provides a basis for our interactions with them, calling for partnerships that are rooted in fairness, trust and mutual respect. Our agreements are designed to ensure satisfaction for all parties.
Policy and selection criteriaWhen procuring services and products, UniCredit personnel must ensure the highest degree of fairness and objectivity. Our Group aims to raise awareness among our global procurement employees of sustainability-related issues and to create value by implementing sustainable processes. The purpose of these activities is to take into account the potential risks associated with different suppliers and products.
UniCredit approved a Green and Social Procurement Policy in November 2010, which details procurement activities in social and environmental arenas and addresses our Group’s sustainable approach to selecting suppliers and products.
The policy stems from UniCredit’s experiences in several countries, where our operations had previously developed environmental procurement criteria within the scope of their environmental management systems. Our new policy standardizes and extends the scope of criteria, while ensuring a reduction in environmental impacts associated with our upstream supply chain.
Under these new guidelines, our preference is given to suppliers who:
UniCredit’s current objective is to apply these vendor management criteria to 70 to 80 percent of our suppliers in Austria, Germany and Italy.
