Trapani Cento Cup 2008

In October the world’s best match race specialists, the majority of whom took part in the America’s Cup final in Valencia, will battle it out for the Cento Cup aboard prestigious boats such as Luna Rossa, +39 Challenge, Team New Zealand, Desafio Espagnol, Shosholoza, China Team and Mascalzone Latino.

Organized by the Gargnano Sailing Club, the Cento Cup is already established on the international scene after 19 years. The competition will be held in Trapani for the second time, thanks in part to the support of Banco di Sicilia.

Barcolana - Trieste, 12 October 2008

For many years now, UniCredit Banca has been a main sponsor of Barcolana, an annual international sailing event that takes place in Trieste, that turns into the the sailing capital of Europe. The Barcolana international sailing regatta is a week-long festival both on land. 

Two thousand boats take part in a mix of competitive racing and a celebration of sailing. Competitiveness and a passion for the sea are at the root of the success of this internationally famous event. Every year boats of over 30m in length and crews that have taken part in the America’s Cup are drawn by this event to Trieste, the northernmost gulf on the Mediterranean.

Bank Austria-TennisTrophy 2008

Austria’s most important tennis tournament, the Bank Austria-TennisTrophy, takes place in October in the “Wiener Stadthalle” in Vienna.
Over the last three decades, at least three-quarters of the world’s top-ten ranked players have taken to the court at this prestigious event in Vienna. Celebrities like Boris Becker, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, Andre Agassi and Ivan Lendl, or rising stars as Novak Djokovic, have played—and won—at the tournament.

Pekao Open Tournament

The Pekao Open, a part of the ATP Challenger Series of international men’s professional tennis tournaments, is one of the most important sporting events in Poland and has been the best tournament in its class since 1999 and received the 2002 Challenger Award prize for best tournament. Since 2004, the Pekao Open has averaged 20,000 – 25,000 spectators each year.
Fully administered by the ATP, the Pekao Open is designed to enable 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams to earn enough points to enter ATP-level qualifying or main draws. The quality of play is unusually high for a challenger series tournament. In 2007, the Pekao Open played host to eight of the top ranked 100 tennis players in the world.
