Deputy General Manager - COO Head of GBS Strategic Business Area
Paolo Fiorentino was born in Naples (Italy) on 23 January 1956.
Graduated “Cum Laude” in Economics and Business at the University of Naples, he has been appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer of UniCredit group since July 2007.
In 1981 he started his professional career in Credito Italiano where he obtained full experience in bank’s branches dealing with retail and corporate customers.
From 1991 to 1996 he worked in Human Resources, Organization and Audit, starting as Assistant Chief Manager up to the position of Regional Head of Human Resources/Organization.
In the years 1996-1999 he became Senior Manager responsible of Organization and IT at the Head Office of UniCredito Italiano.
In 1999, during the merger of Credito Italiano with the Italian Savings Banks he was responsible of the integration process of the different commercial banks of the group. In the same year he was appointed General Manager of Bank Pekao in Poland where he spent 3 years restructuring the bank.
In August 2003 he was appointed group Deputy General Manager of UniCredito Italiano and Head of the New Europe Division, responsible for CEE subsidiaries results.
One year later, in July, he was nominated Head of Global Banking Services of UniCredit, becoming responsible for the group operations.
In July 2007 became group Deputy Chief Executive Officer of UniCredit, and Chief Executive Officer of Capitalia; after the merger of Capitalia in UniCredit he was nominated Chief Executive Officer of Banca di Roma (till 6 May 2009).
In April 2009, following the definition of a new group governance model, based on Strategic Business Areas (SBA), he has been assigned the responsibility for the Global Banking Services SBA managing among the others, Operations, ICT, Real Estate, Work Out, Logistics, as well as Organization and Identity & Communications Competence Lines.
Effective 1st November 2010 he has been appointed Deputy General Manager, Chief Operating Officer in charge of Global Banking Services Strategic Business Area and HR Management.
He is member of the UniCredit Executive Management Committee.
