Specialized training

Employees by type of training received

All business Divisions and functional areas of UniCredit Group define, design and provide specific skills training according to their needs and requirements. The Group’s training programs are extensive and multifaceted, with a particular emphasis on technical training, managerial training and foreign language training.

In 2007, every UniCredit Group employee participated on average in 35 hours of specialized training.

Below is a brief summary of specific training programs from our customer-driven business lines.

Retail Banking

As one of the largest retail banks in Europe, we strive for consistent quality in our retail banking training initiatives. Because it is crucial to maintain standards of excellence in serving our customers, our training programs include a full range of technical, interpersonal and managerial courses, geared to the varied needs of our employees and designed to provide fresh and lively approach to personal and professional development.

Leadership for Results, for instance, promotes a managerial style inspired by the principles of emotional intelligence. Within the Leadership for Results framework, we have also implemented processes for coaching and mentoring, thus supporting individually tailored, retail-oriented programs for development and skill enhancement.

Private Banking

Responding to the need to stay perfectly up-to-date on increasingly complex markets, we run a variety of customized programs – striking a careful balance between theory and practice – for our employees in the field of private banking and wealth management.

In cooperation with the University of Torino and the ESCP-EAP European School of Management, we offer our Italy-based client and branch managers the opportunity to obtain a Master’s in Private Banking. Our senior managers in Germany can obtain a Wealth Manager Certification, a program run in cooperation with the European Business School. In Austria, we offer training courses in financial planning and recommendation marketing, among others, to all our client relationship managers.

Corporate Banking

Designed by the Bocconi University School of Management and the MIP Business School of Milan, with partnership arrangements with the Technical University of Munich and Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, the Master’s in Corporate Banking is a highly specialized finance program for relationship managers, junior branch managers, sales specialists and credit managers. Highly specialized training is complemented by a broad selection of intercultural and sociological modules structured to facilitate the development of strong and sustainable business networks well into the future.

The International Relationship Manager Program brings together relationship managers from 22 countries within the Group. The program is dedicated to business development in the form of building stronger, more personalized networks, thereby generating a superior value proposition for our clients.

Investment Banking

Investment banking is by nature an extremely heterogeneous field, spanning a variety of different disciplines and specialties. We respond to the need for specialized training with a number of tailored expert-level programs, covering subjects that include risk, investment banking management fundamentals and financial mathematics. Our financial mathematics course, for instance, is geared for our sales staff, providing them with specialized knowledge in structuring and modeling capital market products.
