History
Bank Austria was created by the merger of Austria's leading banks with a longstanding tradition, the "k.k. privilegirte Oesterreichische Credit-Anstalt für Handel und Gewerbe" (founded in 1855), the "k.k. privilegierte Oesterreichische Laenderbank" (founded in 1880) and the "Zentral-Sparkasse der Gemeinde Wien" (founded in 1905).
Bank Austria has been a member of UniCredit Group since November 2005.

In 1995, the direktanlage.at AG (public limited company) established its pionieering discount brokerage in Austria and, as "Austria's Discount Broker No.1", has enabled investors to carry out security investment transactions directly, quickly and cheaply via the internet, telephone and fax ever since.


In addition to discount brokerage, for some years the core activities of the company have included personal investment management in the branch offices of direktanlage.at and professional asset management in cooperation with the renowned partner Dr. Jens Ehrhardt Kapital AG.
