Business model

We have adopted a divisional business model that provides us with both flexibility and strength.

Our business is conducted through a network that operates in multiple markets via country-based banks that have a significant local presence (in Italy, UniCredit S.p.A. itself functions as a "local bank").

Our management network benefits from our centralized product lines/product factories, which offer high-quality financial products at competitive prices, and from our global service lines/service factories, which support the entire group and optimize its effectiveness and efficiency.

This organizational structure allows us to allocate resources in the best way possible to meet our customers' needs. It also enables us to leverage our capabilities in all aspects of banking and to rely on an unparalleled branch network that connects us with thousands of local communities and millions of customers.

In this way we are able to create value in all our operations and capitalize on growth opportunities as they arise.

This business model is based on four pillars:

Customer centricity

This is the primary objective of our F&SME, CIB, PB and CEE Divisions, which specialize in business relationships with customers and provide them with the best service and highest level of satisfaction over the medium and long term.

Multi-local approach

This allows local banks to take responsibility for their distribution networks and customer relationships, and to take full advantage of our product and service lines, of our global product and service factories, and of the colleagues who work in every one of our markets.

Global product lines

Our Group’s Global Product Lines are responsible for developing the products and services that drive the creation of value across all geographic areas, as well as for leveraging the Group's internal product factories.

Global services lines

Our Global Service Lines are responsible for providing support through our service factories and through the Group's centralized areas. They backstop the network and our centralized product factories through specialized services provided by our Back Office, ICT, Loan Recovery, Procurement Office, Real Estate and Shared Service Centers.
